Quicktime

My kid got a computer program at Christmas that required Quicktime to be installed. After installing, I would periodically get the "blue screen of death".......you all know what THAT is! I have since uninstalled the program and Quicktime, but with the removal of Quicktime, there were certain files that were not removed because they were being shared with others. The quicktime icon is still in my tray, and in my add/remove programs. How do i remove Quicktime completely......never liked that program to begin with! I havent had any more problems with the blue screen, but I would like to get that icon out of my program tray. Any advice is truly appreciated!

Just a guess, but I'd bet it had more to do with your video driver than Quicktime.  Latest driver installed?

Did Add or Remove Programs Quicktime actually say some files are being shared or *** might be shared ***.
First try right click on Tray Icon  & select Exit etc.
Since its still show in Add or Remove Programs try clicking that again.
You could also try Programs File  , right click on Quicktime Folder & Delete.
