This worked for me.....

To remove the RA Media Server:
Go to Control Panel
Open User Accounts
Select "Manage Another Account"
Click on RA Media Server
Choose "Delete this Account"

I had no problems with deleting this user (RA Media) even though it was password protected.

To remove Dell Remote Access:
Go to Control Panel
Open Programs and Features
Locate Dell Remote Access from list
Choose Uninstall

I might also recommend disabeling Remote Access under System Properties

Go to Control Panel
Open System
Under Tasks - click on "Remote Settings"
Uncheck "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer"
Select Apply, then OK

I've had the same problem.  As soon as I click Manage Another Account, it asks for the RA Media Server password.  Without that password, I can't make any changes to any of my programs.  Please help me out.

I experienced the same issue with my new Studio 1537. I think I accidentally changed my admin account to a standard account - and RA Remote Server hijacked my admin priveleges and I didn't have a password. I chatted with a Dell tech support rep for 1.5 hours and all they could tell me was to reinstall vista. I did a little searching on my own and found this Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940765/. Basically what I did was boot from the Vista DVD that came with my system. It allows you to do a system restore without an administrative password. Took me about 10 minutes and I was good to go. Hope this helps!

As soon as I inserted the DVD and tried to run it, I got the prompt asking for the RA Media Server Password.  Anytime I try to make any changes to any programs I get that prompt.

Don't attempt to run it while Windows is already running. Restart your machine and when it shows something like "Setup F2 - Boot Options F12, repeatedly hit F12 to get to "Boot Options". Then you can choose to "Boot from CD/DVD".

I just wanted to let everyone know that I went to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940765/ and printed that out.  I then came back here and read thru this forum and followed what was stated as a possible solution and it worked like a charm.  So don't be afraid to do this because it does work.  I don't understand why Dell tech support doesn't know the solution for this problem since it is something that they caused.

I did the system restore too and it worked great.  I have had no problems with the RA Media Server ever since the restore.

SO glad we checked here before agreeing to pay Dell $129 to fix this problem. Not only would we have been out the $$$ but they said their method was going to wipe out all info on the laptop and there was no other way. Maybe they should check this community blog too! Thank you to all who gave such great advice, we appreciate it very much.
