I might hazard a guess, but I would prefer to have you first verify the reinstall procedure and sequence for the operating system, drivers, and all those Windows updates.
It was not a repair, I completely reinstalled. But, I did not use Dell's Reinstall guidelines for I have reinstalled several times before. What do you recommend?
EDIT: I went through the Langa article and it's advice really helped. I don't think my GeForce is up to 32 bit. Thanks:)

I was hoping to verify the sequence of Windows, updates, chipset driver, video adapter driver, or anything you might have noticed, but ...
It does seem related to the video adapter, but similar symptoms reportedly result from skipping the chipset driver, or installing the video driver before the chipset driver. Maybe reinstalling the video driver would be worth a shot if you haven't already tried that. Your video should be pretty good in that notebook.
Windows Indexing Service crossed my mind, but the effect should be a bit more subtle.

One of my first stops for tips on Windows XP is the Langa List.

Hi PoptartHunter,
I have been experiencing the same problems with my computer performance like you.
Have you found any solution for your problem?
