Re-installing Internet Explorer 6

My XPS has SP2 loaded, but I suspect IE6 is corrupted or has a virus/spyware that causes the PC to crash.
I can delete IE6 using the Add/Remove option in Control Panel but I am not sure how to re-install a fres download. The Microsoft site is full of options but I would appreciate any instructions on what the next step is. Thanks in advance…..herb

You don't really need to uninstall IE6, I would download a good virus protection program and a Antispyware program and run a scan and see what that comes up with.

Virus Protection: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5

Spyware: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

If you really want to download IE6 SP1 again go here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx

Good Luck!

A pertinent question would be to inquire as to whether your AV protection is up to date, whether you've run a complete system scan with same, and what the results were?

Short of a clean installation of Windows, this is the recommended method for repairing Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP:

Thank you both for the inputs. I do have NAV and have also run Panda's online scan - along with Spybot and Adware. I started having problems with Blue Screen (PC freezing) after IE6 started acting funny. So I want to eliminate that as root cause. Thanks again for your inputs. Herb
