RE: My Computer Won't Save-As

Recently my computer  Dell XPS 400 with Windows XP Media Edition has developed a problem.  I can't "Save As".  If I go to My Computer and open say a saved .JPEG file and alter is slightly and try and "Save As" to change the name, the program immediately freezes and I have the ctrl-alt-delete out of the program.  The computer keeps running but I can't save as.  I can "Save As" in a different photo editing program however.  I ran a McAfee virus scan and none were detected.  This also happens with Microsoft Word and Excel, I can't do a "Save As".  I can use the regular save.  I tried to "repair" with the disk from Dell and still the same thing.   Any suggestions.
