Don't know the cause but you can Search Advanced (1st 3 boxes ticked) for     outlook express
& all the Folders are in
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{2C7A8CD0-78FA-427F-BF86-AE333A20DC52}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Double click on Outlook Express Folder & if is doesn't the missing Folders   .dbx  files they are gone.

If the Folders  dbx files still exist see this site;

Hi Sig,

In case the other person's fix won't work without purchasing that program, you might try this.  First you need to make sure that the folders that have disappeared are still in the directory.  You can find the location of the *.dbx folders as described in this URL:

http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/faqs/where.htm#findfiles

If you can see all of the folders there, including the ones which have disappeared, you can delete the folders.dbx file found there and a new one will be created as described here (See the note at the end):

http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/store.htm#storemain

Hope this will solve your problem.
