ReadyBoost

Has anybody tried an SD card on an INSPIRON for Vista's ReadyBoost and SuperFetch?

Any particular card work best?

Did you notice a real improvement?

Thanks.

The Windows VISTA site says the following:

When a removable memory device such as a USB flash drive or a secure digital (SD) memory card is first inserted into a port, Windows Vista checks to see if its performance is fast enough to work with Windows ReadyBoost. If so, you are asked if you want to use this device to speed up system performance. You can choose to allocate part of a USB drive's memory to speed up performance and use the remainder to store files.

I wonder if some SD cards are better than others -- and what have user's seen?

Most reviewers say that the whole Ready Boost thing is a gimmick. I've tried it with a 2GB thumb drive and don't see any difference. It's more helpful as a portable drive. A small SD card that I have did not work and failed the Ready Boost test. Don't use Ready Boost as a substitute for more ram.

I've tried both, I had a Kodak SD card that worked with readyboost, and a lexar thumbdrive that also worked. I opted with the thumbdrive because it was a 2gig.  I didnt notice any huge jumps in performance, but leaving it attached just cause i dont need the thumbdrive for files.
