recording macro's

Whith my old window's xp, I could record and play macro's.But with my new system that run's vista, when I try to record a macro it say's macro not recorded, write error. Am I doing something wrong..... or do I need to adjust a setting or something?? I am pretty new to computer's so if anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it!
