Dell system comes with number of partitions. C drive on the system stores the Windows operating system and your personal files saved. ‘Win RE’ partition is the Windows Recovery Environment; it is your recovery partition. EFI System partition contains the boot loader programs for all operating systems installed (in other partitions) on the device, device driver files (used by the firmware at boot time) for other devices, and system utility programs that are intended to be run before an operating system is booted.
I wish to know the partition type of each of these like efi-ntfs, mbr or gpt etc ... so that I can recover the partition table using test disk...(from cgsecurity)
I dont want to format laptop (using installation media from DELL ) because then I think I would not be able to create these recovery partitions again.. (though I have backup of data stored in all these hidden partition )
Win 8 Disk Management will NOT show if the format is GPT or MBR. Go to a elevated Command Prompt and type Diskpart. Then type List Disk. You will get a table listing all the partitions. There is a GPT column that will have an asterick for any GPT partition.
First of all I cant use any of these software coz... My system isnt working..because of incorrect partion type... Does any one of u has a Dell system with windows 8 preinstalled??..If yes pls let me know ..
I would advise you to restore the system to factory state. Please follow the steps mentioned below to recover the system to factory state.
Note: Please backup all the files from the computer as the steps mentioned will restore the system to Factory state.
Plug in the AC Adapter.
Point to the right of the screen and when the charms bar comes up, click Search then type in Dell Backup and Recovery. Click Dell Backup and Recovery.
Click the Recovery tile.
Click System Recovery.
Click Yes, Continue.
Select the recovery point as ‘Factory Image’ and then click Restart.
The system would prompt the user to ensure that they are selecting the correct backup point. Click Yes once verified.
The system restarts and goes ahead with restoring the factory image as per the recovery point selected. Follow the on-screen instructions to setup the Operating System.
Please check for issue resolution after the above steps.
Also, Please send me a private message with the computer's service tag and I will check what can be done. To send a private message, click on my name and select start conversation.
