You cannot make recopver disk, but you can get all of the installation disk ( including the OS )

And request them for your system. You will need the service tag and order #. I have done this several times and have always gotten them within 3 - 4 days.

No, I just got a disc that came with the laptop that has upgrades to other Vista versions. I recently bought a compaq presario that allowed me to make recovery discs. I guess I will have to call Dell and get them to ship me out the recovery discs.

I have a insprion 1501 that is just 2 weeks old and it came with 1 DVD and 4 CD

The DVD with Vista basic on it looks green and says reinstall DVD you did not get that

with your 1501 ?
