Welcome to Vista the memory hog.

There are several things you can do to help with memory usage but it can be dangerous if you do not know what to look for.

1. MSCONFIG There are so many things in here that you can get rid of of. I would suggest looking on the internet for a list of what is needed and what is not needed.

2. Turn off aero. Vista is alot of eye candy. You can free up some memory by turning off aero.

MSCONFIG will be the best tool you can use, just make sure do not disable an important processes...
Also remember 2Gb will be ok for Vista computer.
I have a E520 with 2Gb 256Mb nVidia 7300LE and some games run not as I played on XP, probably with a better video card we can fix that...

You can disable some of the windows services to free up memory.

Also make sure you don't have any Spyware/Viruses. I just recently had a trojan that was making my Memory usage go from the regular 450 MB to about 1.5 GB. Otherwise I'd say MSCONFIG is a good way to go about getting rid of pointless programs that are always on.
