Many people are opposed to the fact they have to install another 23MB of code before they can use the software they paid for.
What "fact"? The DI installer will, of course, install the .NET subsystem automatically. And complaining about the 23MB of diskspace(which corresponds roughly to one hundredth of one percent of available disk space on typical modern hard drives) taken up by it is too ridiculous to comment on...
P.S.: By the way, I looked at your web page on backup utilities. You should change the following: "
One drawback to Windows Backup is that you cannot selectively restore a single file from the backup file." That's nonsense; of course NTBackup let's you select individual files or folders to restore.
I can not understand why .NET Framework is an issue, it shouldn't be. At some point in the future it will become mandatory. As Microsoft and other developers extend features of current applications or create new ones the need for .NET will increase. I am now going to do something I usually avoid, that is make an assumption. I believe that the majority of users that have not and will not install .NET do not know what it is nor why that do not want to install it.

It is indeed a fact that .NET has to be installed in order for DI7 to function. Doesn't matter if PQ supplied it or not. I was just saying that I know people that didn't want *anything* to do with .NET and therefore have anything to do with a product that requires it. It wasn't a matter of disk space at all I don't think. Personally, I don't care a flying F what their reasons were.
Not sure what your problem is with me. I am just trying to help people, not tear them down or squabble over semantics.
Thank you for the correction regarding the NTbackup "nonsense". I will make the change on my website soon.
I don't have a problem with you, and I was/am aware that it was not you who quibbled about the disk space taken up by .NET. I apologize if I appeared to be attacking you, and assure you that this was not my intention. For what it's worth, I do agree with much of what you were saying.
Msgale is probably right that upwards of 99% of those people you were referring to, that fuss about having .NET on their machines, simply are entirely clueless.
