regards to BIOS on sp2

ok I'm going to upgrade my BIOS version from A09 to A10. Will this be good enough to install sp2 successfully? if so, when I select upgrade rather than install. Will sp2 install on my computer-saving all my data along with it.

(1)  You do not indicate your computer type, but is A10 the latest BIOS update?  In any case if it is good enough to run XP it will be good enough to run XP with the SP2 update.

(2)  SP2 installs fine, if you follow instructions (specifically shut down all other applications aside from Windows - like firewalls, virus protection, and the like).  There is no choice of method of installation since SP2 is NOT considered an upgrade but a fix for certain problems discovered in XP.

element209,

BIOS updates are recommended only if the update solves a problem which is being experienced on the computer. Unless the new BIOS specifically says that it will enable your computer to operate Windows XP SP2 (and that A09 will not) there is no reason to update.
