Registry Editor and System Configuration

Question

I cannot access Registry Editor.  When I go to start and run, I type in Regedit and it pops up and than disappears. I tried Regedit.exe...that didn't work either.  The same thing happens when I type in msconfig and when I try to access System configuration.  I have a windows xp.  I need to get into this registry can someone help?  Thank you. You need to first get rid of the virus(es) you have on your system. After that, your registry editor will work again.

Re: Registry editor and system configuration   I bot A virus sweeper and installed it on my computer, this still hasn't gotten rid of the problem.  I still cannot access the Registry file.  Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

See if this is virus-related; do this online scan if you can. You will have to allow the downloading of a small piece of software.     http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
