Registry Optimizing Programs

Is it really necessary to use registry cleaning software such as CCleaner or WinASO Registry Optimizer? Will my computer start to run sluggish if the registry is full of obsolete registry keys?

It is ABSOLUTELY UNNECESSARY to run any type of registry cleaners.  UNNEEDED.  NEVER RUN.  CAUSE DAMAGE.  STOP, DO NOT PROCEED!

Hope that clarifies things.  :smileywink:  I've never run a registry cleaner on any computer ever.

From the board game Monopoly, it means "don't do it."

I occasionally use some of the ones mentioned around here and as long as you do a registry backup first you should be okay.  Many of these utilities give you the option of creating a backup before any adjustments or repairs are made.

The only time I had any problem with a registry cleaner was with System Mechanic.  It changed all of my SCR screensaver files to be associated with Notepad. A Spybot scan rectified the problem.
