How do you reinstall Windows Me on a Dell Dimension 4100 without reformatting the hard drive?

Instructions are here. A "dirty reinstall" of Windows ME usually results in an unstable system.

If you can afford it, I would suggest using Windows 98SE or Windows 2000 Professional.
Windows ME is considered to be a horrible OS among computer enthusiasts and IT professionals.
I purchased the upgrade version of ME and was throughly disgusted at the instablility of the system, even on a clean install.
