Reinstallation with Dell recovery disk

AFAIK, Dell does not ship "Recovery CD/s" rather, they use Reinstallation CD's which are essentially, branded versions of whatever version of Windows you run...in your case I would assume to be, Windows XP.  This CD provides the same functionality as the retail version of the Operating System.

So, with this CD, I can "repair" Windows? (Replace the OS without losing data)
