reinstalling windows

I am thinking about reinstalling windows prior to upgrading to XP SP2. I understand that by reformatting the drive, I will wipe out the Dell factory reset option. I was reading in Dells doccumentation area that you can start the install process by having the system boot from the Dell XP install CD. The documentation that I read stated that if the drive is reformatted and the file system selected is NTFS, the computer will not be able to read the Dell Windows install CD. If this is the case, then how would a reinstall be done?

The reinstall would be done from the XP CD . . This is a good guide for reinstalling on a Dell:  http://www.djdenham.com/Install%20Procedures.htm

Thanks!

Has anyone found a quick fix to this problem without having to do a complete reinstall?  Thanks.
