Reinstalling windows7

I have Dell Inspiron N5110 which came with Windows 7,Home premium. But recently I had to format it and I only had Windows 7,Proffesional version. Therefore I installed windows 7 proffesional. But with it I can't activate Windows. Is windows 7 included in DELL drivers and utilities CD.If not is there a way I can get a copy of windows 7, home premium?

Hi pj,

When installing Windows 7 Professional if you did not deleted the Recovery Partition in your computer, you can restore your computer to factory settings. Please refer to the below mentioned hyperlink to find steps on “How to restore your Windows 7 computer to factory settings”:

How to restore your Windows 7 computer to factory settings

Note: Restoring the computer to the factory setting will erase all the information in the computer. Please ensure that all the important data is backed up.

Dell Drivers and Utilities Disc don’t have Windows 7 Operating System. If ordered, Windows 7 is sent as a separate disc. If you are in the US region, you can request the recovery media online for one time. Click here to know more.

Likely you did and the factory settings will not work without it or if the OS has been manually installed.

Follow Windows Reinstallation Guide/A Clean install of Windows 7:

Use a Windows 7 Home Premium .iso from Digital River and the Activation Backup and Recovery Program to activate Windows as instructed. If this does not work input the 25 digit product key on the systems COA and use Microsoft Phone Activation. The guide explains all these processes in detail.
