Remote Assitance

My guess is that one or both of the systems has a firewall blocking the incoming connection.

That is the first place I would look.  If that doesn't work perhaps you could include some information about each of the computers and what kinds of security software they are running.  Be sure to include whether or not either one of them happens to be connected through a router.

I am running xp pro we both have dell computers and we both have norton system works installed in it they either has pro or home xp im not sure but i know we both have norton i dont think we have firewalls up how would i check that or turn it off while we do the session

When I am remoting with someone, I make sure that both of us have that certain port needed open in our router. If you have a linksys or whatever, you know you can go to http://192.168.1.1 and open up the port so remote assistance can work. If you aren't sure how to sign into your router, leave the username blank and put your password as admin. You want to go here and open up 3389 ~ 3389.

Other than that, you don't have to shut your firewall down because when remoting Windows will temporarily shut them down for you. You may also have to go into the actual Remote Assistance file sent to your mom and change the IP but there is a good possibility that you won't. First try opening that port and see if that works.

dont know how to do that. when i try to connect it says we have accepted and its waiting to connect

 I get this message :
REMOTE ASSISTANCE CONNECTION COULD NOT BE ESTABLISHED BECAUSE THE REMOTE
HOST NAME COULD NOT BE RESOLVED.
