Remove Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software??

I have an Inspiron E1505 and am trying to upgrade to Vista Business with my Express Dell Upgrade package. I am in the middle of the Upgrade Assistant and it is now telling me that I should remove "Intel PROSet/Wireless Software" for Vista to run correctly and that it will later be replaced by something in Windows Vista....
 
but I thought that this Intel thing is what keeps me connected to the Internet Network (i am wirelessly connected to the internet and other computers on my home network) and i thought that i needed the internet to complete the Upgrade Assistant  and to install Vista...
 
what am i suppost to do?

As robertc123 recommends, use your Ethernet connection rather than wireless. When I installed Vista, I did the same thing and I also turned off the wireless card prior to beginning the install. After Vista was installed, I updated the required drivers and then turned wireless on again.

i didn't take a chance and plugged my computer into the router with ethernet cable. I don't know if I ever lost the wireless it just made sense to me that i would. lo and for fun just before my install was complete my internet had an outage for an hour I panicked and ran to the store for another modem when I got back my connection was back up.

Been there and done that -- Intel's software is not Vista compatible and there are no plans to make it. Use the VISTA functions to connect to your wireless LAN.

Contrary to your statement, there are Vista drivers for the E1505 on the Dell site. While you can certainly use native Vista drivers, I followed the procedure as outlined in my previous post and then installed the Dell/Intel Vista drivers. Everything works as it should.
