Some websites use Java and so do some software programs.

Thanks for the reply.    I def don't want to eliminate Java.

I'm wondering about the updates I seeon my hard drive.  Are they set up files or are they actually code Java uses to run properly?

I can't believe that over 1GB of space is needed for it!

Hi chip.

Not to undermine ieee488 advice, but yes you can delete older versions of Java and stay with the latest update. See here. What I do if an old program does not detect the new version is to direct it to it C:\Program Files\Java\jrex.x.x\bin\Java.exe that is all.

Hope it helps.

Hello,

Just to add if I might ...

Don't delete any Java files. Uninstall all versions of Java and/or Java script using 'add/remove programs'. Restart the system and install the new Java files. :emotion-21:

Thereal.

Thank you, I should have said uninstall instead of delete :emotion-21:, though the link I provided clearly show how to uninstall older versions of Java. My mistake. English is not my native language.:emotion-16:

Thank you everyone!  That's exactly what I wanted to know.

I will UNINSTALL, delete any remaining files, and then reinstall the most current version.

This will save me at least 1 GB of drive space!

Thanks again.
