Removing auto loading programs from the task bar in Win2000

I have several unneeded programs (Quicktime, Laserjet Director, PIM's, etc.) that somehow set themselves to automatically load upon bootup.  These are displayed in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.  This extends an already long startup time.

I have not been able to find a way to remove these from automatically loading at startup in Win2000.

Any suggestions?  Thanks!

From the run dialogue, you can go into services.msc and take a look at those programs. Make sure all of them are needed. www.lutilities.com will give you reliable program descriptions. Also, there are special utilities that will help you get into the buried settings of startup. Some examples that I have installed on my computer are "Codestuff Starter" and "Startup Manager". Sometimes, one of them will see a program the other does not. These programs will also help you view the processes on your comp, many of which can be tweaked using services.msc in the run dialogue. I have ran lots of spyware checks with lots of different programs, and so have many people on my discussion groups; these two programs are safe and do not come with spyware. They're also free, and customized for Windows 2000.
