Removing Dell's programs and advertisements

Just got a new computer and was VERY dissapointed to see all the garbage that Dell put on the computer. Every time I turn it on I see ads for Norton Ghost, Quick Books, etc.
I know how to go to add/remove programs and uninstall all the programs and eliminated shortcuts, but how do I get rid of the intrusive, unwanted, obnoxious and annoying advertisements, such as the ones I mentioned above.
Is there a list of all the garbage and how to eliminate it available, thanks!

Thanks!
I am a little leary about using a product such as this.
Any glitches, bugs or problems, or is this a generally highly regarded utility (sort of like Spybot)
Thanks again!

As is the case with  any third party application, the individual user is the final arbiter as to whether or not he/she is capable of using same safely.  If you have to ask this here, perhaps a format and clean installation of Windows (and whichever specific applications you prefer) might be a better choice.  There's all sorts of documentation available via the host site and a simple Google search, if you're not sure.

Good news!

That program is great, relatively easy to use and did the job.

Thanks for you advice!

Below procedure will provide a faster boot up, and eliminate wasting memory on programs that are not in use at this time……

1...Start Up Programs: Click on START, Click on Run, than put in the box MSCONFIG Click OK. Now you are in the System Configuration Utility Program. Click on START UP you see on the top of this Utility Program. Uncheck the programs from here that you do not want to start at boot up, leaving the anti virus, and any third party firewall alone. You can always go back into this program to restart them. They will not be uninstalled. Click on APPLY, than it will ask you if you wish to reboot the system. Do so. After it boots up again, you will be presented with another window from the System Configuration Utility Program telling you that you have made an adjustment. If you don't want to see this pop up each time you boot up, put a check mark in the little box in the lower left corner of this announcement.

http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php   Link to a site that can explain what you have starting up, if you do not already know, and which ones you can safely un-check. It’s a long list.

2.  Do what many of the season members have done and Reformat and Reinstall windows, than install only what you want to put on and nothing else, which will speed up things.  Of course, make sure you have the OS CD handy or call for one from Dell.  You will loose the Symantec Restore Utility, but all that does is bring the system back to the date it was shipped with all the Dell garbage as well....

3.  Uninstall from Add/Remove the programs you think you will never want.  Not the best way, since registry code will be left behind, but better than nothing
