Removing Programs From MSConfig

I picked up what looks like a spyware program called Forbes Alerts. I uninstalled it and and removed the folder from the hard drive. It is no longer listed in the Add Remove Programs. However it is still listed in the Startup Tab in the msconfig utility. Is there somwhere in the registry to manually remove this from the msconfig list?

This is for XP Home.

elmoizme,

As long as the box next to it is not checked, you have nothing to worry about.
But if you would like to remove it anyway, please see:

Startup and Temporary Files Cleanup

Good Luck!

Check your All Programs>Startup folder for a shortcut you can delete.

Thanks for the responses. However,  the program doesn't show up anywhere except in the startup tab of the msconfig utility. And yes it is unchecked. I would still like to find out how to remove it with the regedit utility. Thanks again.

elmoizme,

I have this problem too.  I can't figure it out, though.

Unfortuantly, those links did not solve my problem.  I went through all of them (as well as the ones put in the thread I recently started on my computer running slow found here http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=sw_winxp&message.id=119855 ) and I still have programs in the regedit.

Thanks for the links. That did the trick.
