As long as you have a retail copy of XP... or an OEM version which has never been installed before, it won't be a problem :emotion-5:
But are you aware, that Dell are only obliged to provide support for systems still running the OS which was pre-installed on the system at the time of purchase?
By installing XP, you *could* find yourself being refused tech support!
Tech support shouldn't be refusing to support the system, but having it running a different OS than the factory installed does limit what testing they can do. Officially, we only support the OS that we shipped it with so at worst they might ask you to reinstall linux to verify the problem (though usually its the other way round, with support askign the person to put Windows back on :emotion-1:).
Why not just purchase the system with XP? I know it's a little more expensive, but the cost of the XP cd probably is about the same as the difference between the two.
Or, try Dell outlet. I purchase two refurbished Minis through there. Cost me $296 and $323 (would have been less, but somehow I paid $16 for Next Business Day shipping....didn't mean to, but I think it defaulted to that somehow.)
Both systems have all the goodies 1gig Ram, 16SSD, Webcam, XP, one is cherry red, the other black...the only feature I don't have is the WAN slot, which I did not need anyway.
