Resource Problems

I recently added a Verizon DSL connection and I also use AOL.

I have Windows 98 SE
I just added RAM and now have 384
Dell Dimension L667r
Still I have system resources problems with all these things.
I had to reinstall NAV 2004. Before the reinstall my resources were up to 98%.

I have tried out different Startup setups.

At Startup I have checked:
Load Power Profile checked twice
Task Monitor
Systray
Scan Reg
the five Norton items for NAV 2004
a-winpoet service (for my Internet connection)
Em_Exec (I need this for my cordless mouse in order to know when battery level is critical)
InteliType (I need this in order for my hot keys to work)
ZA (for ZA)free 5
True Vector (for ZA)
SpywareGuard (I have also tried starting this after startup from programs)

See below re following items
Real Tray
TkBell (2)

It seems it is debatable as to weather the two Load Power Profiles really need to be checked. My profile is never, never, never but still Dell says keep them checked.

Task Monitor is also debatable. Exactly what does it do anyway?

I saw somewhere at Dell talk that some people do not keep ZA checked at startup. I know you could open ZA Security from Programs but what about True Vector?

I have RealPlayer10Gold free and I keep Real Tray unchecked. I also uncheck TkBell but it keeps checking itself everytime I open Real Player. I am not getting any useful help from RP. It is my understanding that the AOL music player is somehow connected to Real Player.

It looks like I will have to remove ZA and SpywareGuard.

I do Norton scans, disk cleanup, scan, disk defrag at least once a month. I run my ad-aware, spybot and check for updates for SpywareGuard and SpyBlaster once a week. I have been running CleanALL.bat but have not run it since installing DSL. I empty temp internet files and clean up cookies nearly every night. It seems to no avail. I ran House call. No viruses found.

In my Close Menu, it seems rnaapp does not want to close. I spoke to AOL and to Dell about this. AOL is going to file a report. Originally AOL told me this was a Windows problem. Dell told me it was an AOL problem. Acsd (part of AOL) seems to be another program that does not close when it should. AOL fix-it says everything is OK.

What are your best suggestions? Thanks. I find Dell talk to be the most useful site on the web.
