Restart in MS-DOS mode
I am trying to get to MS-DOS in ME. which from reading other messages is hard to do I tried with the setup floppy disk as suggested it didn't work. From Microsoft I tryed (start/shutwoen/restart/ok when computer restarts choose start computer with CD-Rom support, start computer without DC-Rom support or Mininam boot. When computer restarts you should see MS-DOS prompt rather than Win Me desktop. It doesn't happen. Anymore suggestions?
Thank You

What is it that you're seeing, rather than an MS-DOS prompt? Does it boot to Windows? Have you tried an alternate WinME boot diskette? It's possible that the files on the one you're trying to use are corrupted. Choosing either With or Without CD-ROM Support (Without is a bit quicker, if you're not going to need the CD drive) or Minimal Boot should get you to an A:\ prompt, and from there, all you have to do is change the directory to your C:\ drive, or whichever drive other than A:\ you want to work with.
Example:
At the first A:\ prompt, type cd C:\ and press Enter. You should see another A:\ prompt. Type C:\ and press Enter again, and you should be at the root C:\ prompt.

If you have a floppy create a boot dosk located in the add/remove programs in control panel or the install disk.
reboot with disk floppy or cd during message options hit SHIFT + F5 to Immediate dos prompt.
Or Download and install this MEDOSPRO
