restoring Vista backup partition

Hi,
I erroneously deleted critical files in my Vista Recovery (D) partition.  Subsequently, backups can no longer be made there.  The partition (D) is still there, as well as some folders (sources and Windows) How do I restore my complete Vista backup partition files?

Thanks,

Mark

First off, backups are NOT supposed to be made to this partition. This is the Dell Recovery partition which contains all of the files used by the utility which restores your computer to "factory shipped" condition. If these files are not in your Recycle Bin (you can restore them if they are), then you're probably out of luck.

Backups should be made to an external drive, a DVD, etc. but NOT to the Recovery partition.

1: It's recommended you copy the recovery files (D drive) to a CD/DVD before doing anything with it.
2: The files may be in the Recycle Bin.
3: I've never used it but I think you can only use Recovery one time, that's why you copy to CD/DVD.
4: You will need to ask Dell for a Reinstall disk.

No, No, No, arthr,

You are so very wrong about using the  recovery partition just once, it can be used as many times as needed to restore back to factory setting, as long as it is not tampered with, corrupt or deleted. You cannot copy the recovery(D) drive to CD/DVD because it will not work. You can clone/image your drive with software for that purpose.
