RUNDLL32.EXE Program Error
Dear Forum
When I attempt to shutdown or restart, a program error window appears with RUNDLL32.EXE. If I click to End Task, the computer (Inspiron 5100) shuts down normally. If I let this window time out I end up a "program not responding" message. Apart from this my machine works quite normally, but how can I get rid of this error message? Thank you in anticipation.

Dear maxd
There is nothing in Startup called "bridge", but there is something called "image" which is a rundll32 command at an HKLM \Software location. Please advise if possible.

Make (Create) a System Restore Point and run this program. Once it's installed update it before running it.

Dear maxd
Thanks for the help, but System Restore did not work, perhaps because I did not disable Norton Firewall beforehand. However, I am now getting this error message infrequently. What I am getting is is a RUNDLL window at startup which says "Error loading C:\Windows \image.new. The Specified module could not be found".
All this appears to have started after downloading and installing Windows Updates, but how can I get rid of this error message?

Did you follow Maxd's advice and run cwshredder?

Dear J Rosenfeld
I did not run the cwshredder program, mainly because the error message disappeared of its own accord! The RUNDL startup message has also disappeared after appearing in duplicate for a couple of days. Everything seems fine - for now! Will be back in touch if there are any developments. Thank you.

The fact that the error message no longer appears does not necessaily mean that everything is OK. The malware might have recreated the file, so Windows happily finds and loads it at start up, and so does not have to pop up an error message. I'm not saying that is the case, but it is a possibility. Is the item still in startup? If not then OK, but if yes, I would still run cwshredder, to make sure.
