Running Processes

Im not having any problems, but due to all the programs installed on my computer I have some 58 running processes.
I have no idea what most of them are, is ther any way to tell what they actually are.
Thanks

You can see what processes are running in Task Manager (WinXP).

You can go here:

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/taskman_whats_there_w.mspx

to read about Task Manager.

You can access Task Manager by holding down Ctrl/Alt and pressing Delete----the Task Manager window will popup (WinXP).

www.processlibrary.com is a nifty site that lets you easily check and identify any process you might find in your Task Manger window.  Typically my unit has 40-45 processes running depending on how many tray icons I display.

wouldn't most of those processes be services that are started when you boot up and be listed under services.msc?  I only have 19 processes running on my pc after using www.blackviper.com and www.tweakguides.com  the commit change is important as well.
