rw drive software problems
I have purchased a dell 8400 with XP Home, which has a Phillips DVD+RW drive. It came with the basic Sonic Record Now software. I also purchased Nero 6.0 software and installed it. All software works well recording new material, but when I put a cd-rw disk in which was recorded on my old computer it will not read the disks.
My old computer is a dell Dimension 4100 with Me and Adaptec Easy CD v. 4.02d software. The original cd-rw drive was a LG cd-rw drive and it died shortly ago. I purchased a Sony CD-RW model CRX230A-U which came with B's software. After purchasing it i realized that the Easy CD software did not support the Sony drive. The B's software does not have a reader to read the cd-rw disks recorded with the Easy CD software.
My dell 8400 will not read the cd-rw disks with either the Sonic Record Now or the Nero 6.0 software. When I tried to install the Easy CD software in the 8400 using the XP program conpatibility wizard it requests permission to install an Adaptec Reader file for Windows 95 or NT, but when I allow it to install it I am warned that it will make my system unstable and blocks the install. This seems right as 95 and NT are not supposed to be compatable. It seems that I need a reader file for XP as I am referred to the Roxio site for a update. The Roxio site offers only the option to purchase the upgrade.
Is there another solution?
Please advise.
