Security Certificate has expired security alert

After receiving intermittant error code #M1004, I called Dell support. They instructed me to reset BIOS on my Inspiron 8600 Pentium M. This was done by pressing Alt+F in BIOS screen.

Now, when I try to login to my account on  Dell or access my hotmail email account, I receive this security alert. I'm not able to access hotmail, but after persistant attemps, I'm able to login and now access this forum.

"The security certificate has expired or is not yet valid." Dell Inc. Enterfprise Issuing CA. It directs me to a wizard that I followed and installed. Howver, when I go back to Dell or Hotmail, the same security warning screen comes up again.

Can anyone please help me resolve this problem? Thanks.........

That was a brilliant call! I had set the proper date and time in the F2 screen that comes up on start. But the date on my computer said Oct. 25, 2004. All's well now. Many thanks for your response.

I'm  having the same problem with hotmail, I get a pop up that says, the Certification has expired or is not valid. I set the clock time at the right lower task bar, but what is this about the date on your computer that had the wrong time. What/where is this computer date? can you advise please.

Ok, that worked. I had a heck of a time at first until at least I was led to the suggestion by your idea. Also, if I had the "OLD" hotmail.com on the web site address listed and I kept clicking to it, it would continuously keep giving me that pop-up expiration statement.  Finally after checking the CMOS BIOS settings and also making sure the Windows task bar time were the same, then I "typed"  in www.hotmail.com all over again in the address entry and then all worked out fine. Now no more pop-up statement. Hope anyone else reading this, that it will also help them as you helped me.

sorry i missed the replies to this thread :)    glad it worked.

generally the bios date and the computer date should be the same.  that said, it's the windows date/time that should be important for things like this.

when you get the error message, look for details of the certificate.  it should have an effective data and an expiration date.  see if its dates make sense for the error message.
