shell32.dll problem... I think

When I use my anti virus (AVG) on my laptop it shows me 2 versions of shell32.dll ... one that is OK, and one that is 'changed'. When I got to the folder (system32) I only find the one shell32.dll. I downloaded a shell32.dll from the windows site, but when I try to put it into the system32 folder it won't let me because its a protected file. If the shell32.dll is indeed changed, does this mean that it is damaged in some way. I don't understand what is going on here. The date for it is Sept 2005 and it's 8.5MB. The one on the Windows site is 1.32MB and dated March 2002. Can anyone give me some idea of what is going on? I'd appreciate any help.

drewsmistake,

The shell32.dll in your system32 folder is the correct file (both size and date match mine). Do a search for shell32.dll, perhaps the "changed" copy is not in the system32 folder.
