Shutdowns after opening program
I need help asap. Whenever I start my comp in normal mode and click on any program to run the comp will automatically restart. I solved the problem by going to msconfig and selected selective start up and unchecked load start up items. the problem with doing that is that it disabled my virus protection and security features. any ideas on how to get my comp back to normal?

Have you done a full virus scan lately? That might help. If you do not check your system for spyware/malware that would also be advisable. Download and run Ad-aware and/or Spybot and delete all the items they identify as problems.
If disabling Startup items in msconfig cured the symptom, see which of them are not required using the list here.
