Sigmatel Audio 92XX more issues

Having read this FAQ

I managed to fix the skipping music problem in WMP11 and when I set up my speakers in quad mode and run the test utility I get audio in all four speakers. BUT...

When I play music in WMP11 it only comes through the front speakers. This worked before applying the above "fix". I've gone back and unticked the "disable all enhancements" box and all the speakers work again but I then have the original audio skip problem.

So "disabling all enhancements" is also disabling 4 channel audio in WMP!

My machine is a dimension 9150 running vista home premium and  sigmatel 92xx audio codec.

Any ideas???

i had the same problem on my 9150. The solution is fairly simple:
open Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\sound\manage audio devices\    on the advanced tab lower the default format, i have the best results with 16 bit 44100 Hz cd quality.
then you can turn all the speakers back on.

Changing the format in the advanced tab made no diiference. I am still only getting 2 channel sound in WMP.

Thanks any way

try it this way,
put the format on a low rate to fix the skipping problem,
then change your tick for the enhanchments

No matter what format I select I still get the audio skipping problem which goes away when I tick the disable enhancements box. ( low rate selection does not fix the skipping , the skipping I get is only ever in the last 20 seconds of the track)

The problem is still the same

if I tick  "disable all enhancements " I get 2 channel audio with wmp11 but NO skipping. (The test utililty still works on all 4 channels).

If I untick "disable all enhancements " I get all four channels and audio skipping at the end of each track.

Thanks

I have just tried an alternative media player and this plays back  flawlessly through all 4 channels.

It looks like this problem is caused by WMP11, I've looked through the options in WMP and there seems to be no way to change anything to do with speaker output.

Any ideas????
