Sleep Mode Errors
This problem seems exclusive to my Dimension 8400. Vista pre-RC1 5536.
When I enter Sleep mode (the new standby type thing) , it does its usual preparing to Sleep stuff, then turns off the power supply but turns on again straight away. The computer seems to think its in standby mode because the power light flashes (which happens in standby in XP), but the computer starts the boot process, It goes as usual to the Vista boot loader, then starts to load up vista but restarts the computer before the boot process ends.
Expected -
Sleep mode should do a similar thing to Standby mode in XP, although there are some differences. So Sleep Mode is meant to put my machine in a very low power state, and keep it there until I wake it up or push the power button.
I think this could possibly be some kind of Bios incompatability with Vista.
Thanks.

Pushing the power button will give you a restart unless you have instructed your machine otherwise. Except for this detail, what you say is correct. Sleep mode has worked almost perfectly for me under 5384, 5472, and 5536.

However this point is irrelevent really. Im not actually pushing any buttons or trying to wake it up from sleep mode - it starts booting up whilst the hardware thinks its still sleeping - and it does it on its own, I dont touch anything.
I've noted that somone else also has a similar problem, so it may not be caused by Dell hardware, it may be a bug or could be an error restricted to certain machines.
