Slow Slow Zip File Extraction

I am using my new Vostro 1700 with vista.

It can take 15 mins/20 mins to extract zipped files.

There does seem to be many hits on this when Googling ... but I have not found a solution that makes sense.

Is it a bug ... ?

Is there anything I can do?
