SM BUS CONTROLLER, LATITUDE E5500, VISTA

Question

i have done a fresh install ,Latitude E5500, Vista 32 Bit.  I have managed to find all the drivers except the SM BUS CONTROLLER.   Not sure what the driver would be listed as on the driver site or where I can find it..  Any help on this?

HUMPOVER,

You will need to install the Intel Chipset Driver. This driver installs the SM Bus Controller. Also, after a new install of Windows you will need to follow the information in the 2nd link for Driver Install Order. The reason is for the hardware to work properly.

Thank you, that took care of my problem.  Just as a note for some reason the auto detect software would not open, I tried it several times before I asked for help here.

Note that Windows Vista reached End of Life in April 2017 and it is no longer safe to use online...

I did update to Windows 8 but my sound was not support.  Also the track pad did not work very well.

If you still have your Windows 8 Product Key use it to clean install Windows 10 Version 1709. It should have an inbuilt sound driver and the Touchpad issue can be fixed following the instructions here:

I did update to Windows 10 to see if my audio would come back but the same as with Windows 8 no audio.
