Software activation

Hello;

I have a software program that I purchased new installed on one of my computers and the software must be activated (not Microsoft) after installation, either by phone or online. The problem is the company has shut down... if I buy a new DELL, is there a way to install this software and obtain the necessary activation information from my current DELL so the program will function? I have the installation CD's, just not sure where to find the activation information on my current set-up to imput or copy to a new computer.

Thank you, rjdjbd

Well, if it was possible to do that, wouldn't it require you providing the name of the software package?  I doubt it's possible.

rickmktg;

I do have the original installation CD, jewel case, software packaging and box with the registration number. But I remember after the installation was completed, I had to phone or by-way of online, activate the software. What I'm not sure is if my software is already 'activated', will I be required to do it again after a fresh install on a new computer?

And I'll repeat my answer.  What is the name of the software package?  No one is going to be able to provide you with a solution, if one exists (which I doubt) without knowing the name of the software package...  Activation almost always requires connection with the company and sometimes they provide a number to key in which is almost always randomly generated so that it can't be used more than once.

rickmktg;

Sorry, I misunderstood what you had written in an earlier post. The software is DVD X-Copy, Platinum, by 3-2-1 Studios.

Go to this web site and get your support from the company.

They should be able to answer your question.

That company went out of business after being sued for creating software that illegally copied DVDs, they couldn't fight the lawsuits due to the capital required to fight.  I know of no way to activate it.

rickmktg;

Thanks for the reply; I have sent an email to the company information that you posted. They are checking to see if there is a work-around solution. They also have a newer version of software they sell, similar to DVD X-Copy but I was hoping to stay with what I have, even though DVD's from 2006 no longer burn.

And yes, 3-2-1- Studios is long-gone. Even after they shut down, for awhile they had a forum site that helped out, but it's now gone too.

Thank-you,
Richard

It was a previous post from rickmktg. I can continue to use my DELL for just X-Copy, and buy another DELL for other purposes. I was just hoping for a solution so I could use the software on a new computer; I have enough computers in the house already, and don't want one taking space for only one purpose. If I get an answer back from the new company, I will post it.
