Software warranty

Can anyone provide me on what is covered under warranty, for the year warranty, or upgrade, in regards to software problems.  Have been told by Customer Service, software problems are covered by tech support during period of warranty; software problems are not covered during the period of warranty; technical support for software problems (the software on computer when you purchase) must be purchased separately from the offered warranty upgrades, or the offered 1 yr warranty period, etc., etc.  So, if you get the computer, and something does not work (software installed on computer, not 3rd party) then who do you turn to?  Thinking of buying, but I cannot find out the straight answer regarding tech support (not hardware support).  Thanks...

Dell systems do not come with any software support unless you purchase a Dell On Call contract at the point of sale. While your hardware warranty will cover any physical components on the system against defects, the warranty does not cover software problems. Dell On Call covers all software issues such as viruses/spyware, operating system issues, internet connectivity, home network setup and troubleshooting, and most MS Office issues. Most recent Dell systems give you the option of purchasing a 30-day unlimited "Getting Started" contract. After the point of sale, Dell On Call contracts run $99 for a single incident, or around $250 for a year plan consisting of 4 incidents.
