Some Bugs: Decompression, Sidebar...
Well, I've had Vista for 4 days now, and here are the bugs that have been bugging me so far.
I called Microsoft to try and report them, but the guy who took my info didn't really care since I wasn't purchasing tech support. I wish there was a method to email them bugs. Oh well, anyway...
I'm running Windows Vista Business. I installed over a pretty barebones installations of XP pro with all latest updates.
Decompression -
Windows' built in decompression runs unrealistically slow. I considered several causes such as virus scan or Windows Defender, but disabling those seemed to have no effect. I have installed WinRAR to use, which seems to work fine. No known fixes to this issue found on the internet so far.
Windows Sidebar -
I can't add gadgets to the sidebar. I download them, Sidebar asks if you want to install them, and they won't appear on the sidebar or in the gallery. I have no idea what is going on here. I can't find anything like this on the internet, and similar Microsoft KB articles don't apply. Gadget files you download are just compressed files... possibly related to the bugs in Vista's decompression?
Inkball -
Just doesn't work. Tried playing it after upgrade. Get a dialog that says "InkBall is not working on your computer right now. Restart your computer, and then try again. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator." No error appears in the event viewer related to this problem. Nothing on google about it. Oh well.
Other than that, I'm pretty happy with how it's been running. Anyone with these problems or any ideas, please let me know...
John
