Some programs won't open,

Question

I got some weird things happening.   I can't open Photo Explosion. (I have reinstalled it a few times) No error messages it just don't open.   I have to click a link in Internet Explorer more than once to get the page to load properly.    I have MSN Messenger running and it will not open (the little icon is on my tray but when I double click it , nothing happens).   When I boot up my computer I get a message about 'Registration lock on' and what program I want to use to open it. I don't know what it is let alone what program should open it.   Most everything else is working in slow motion.   I have done nothing out of the ordinary to my computer other than disk cleanup and defrag.   Any suggestions?     Oops, I just figured out the registration lock on thing. It was a stupid game I installed and deleted cause it didn't work right. I guess something got left behind. Just a quick note about why Photo Explosion would not work....I had to do the compatability thingy for  Windows 98. Now it works fine.
