Sonic Record Now and Dual Layer DVD disk burning

My XPS gen 3 came with Sonic RecordNow burning software  (version 7.1).

There is no option that I can see which permits burning to Dual Layer DVD's.

Do I have to purchase additional software for dual layer DVD burning?

Your Sonic software should burn the dual-layer format just fine however, this is contingent upon you having a DVD burner that support it as well.  If yours' does, it should be no problem...the burner & software will recognize the dual-layer media with no user interaction required.

I do have a dual layer burner.

I thought I would find an option in the software to click for dual layer burning.

Appreciate the info.

Glad to hear that, esp. since it came with your dual layer support drive.

Scooby,

It looks like dual-layer support started in version 7.2.

Good luck,

The Dell 8400 I'm typing this on shipped with Sonic's Version 7.1, Build: 710b26a and it handles the dual-layer format just fine.  I just put a (compressed) 7.23GB HDD image on a single, dual-layer DVD.

I just received a response from Sonic RecordNow Support,  confirming what Dan Manley has said:

"Your version 7.1 of RecordNow! will work with your dual layer drive. No upgrade is necessary to take advantage of this feature."
