Sonic Record Now Doesn't Work With Backup Software

My Samsung CD-R/RW drive works when I manually go through Sonic Record Now software. What I really want is to have a backup program like SecondCopy or Argentum Backup to send about 30 different backup jobs each day to the CD-RW drive (via Sonic) for depositing on the CD. That doesn't happen. The backup programs tell me they can't access the drive. I did this for two years on my last computer which used CD Creator, and CD Creator apparently intercepted attempts to write on the drive, and didi what was necessary to write the file there. No problems. Does anyone know for sure that Sonic can't intercept attempts to write by other software?

Authoring software, even ECD, cannot do what you want.

You need to use packet writing and format the media prior to use. In Sonic's camp, that would be DLA.

To format the CD-RW with DLA, go to My Computer, find the CD drive with the CD-RW, right-click, select Format from the context menu.

I have just purchased the DellDimension 2400 Series with the Sonic Record and I cannot not do backups like I did with Roxio in my other computer.

When I use the pull-down File to backup my quicken there is no other drive except C drive and I have two bays-CD ROM and CDR/RW X48

I need help with this please.

Thanks

Yours is a completely different issue than what this old thread was about…

The problem is that Quicken changed that feature in 2004. Read your Help files and it will tell you the only way you can do it now.

I solved my Sonic problems by buying Roxio Media Creator 7. I never could get Sonic to do backup for me.
