Do a search for *.wab and for *.dbx. Make sure your system is set to show hidden files and folders. The odds are good that your Outlook Express messages and address book are still on your hard disk and can be recovered.

I installed the SP2 on my dell 4600 and had the same experience with Outlook Express appearing to have lost all my old messages as well as the addresses. I found that SP2 had somhow created a new identity and all I had to do to get the stuff back was to switch back to the old identity. In Outlook - go to the file menu and click "switch identity". Then pick the one that says "Main Identity" without the (**Backup**) notation. At least that's what I found - but yours could be different. BTW, because of other problems, I have restored my system to a point just before intallation of SP2, thus, hopefully, deleted all the problems SP2 was causing (mainly windows going inactive for no reason). Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot guys. I have also decided to "live without" SP2, after doing some research on the subject & seeing all the problems others are having with it, I felt lucky I didn't have any more trouble with it than I did. Again I thank you for taking the time to respond to my note. I use Mozilla Firefox almost exclusively anyway.
I was advised by Dell technical support that "this is a problem encountered with the installation of SP 2" & that I should uninstall & wait for the bugs to be removed before reinstalling. He said they are working on it to make it more "robust". I thought that was an interesting choice of words.
I lost all my information in Outlook Express also after installing SP2. My address book looks like it's there, but nothing in them when I go to address book. Also curious at the very top of Outlook it reads "Inbox - Outlook Express - Main Identity - Backup". My ISP said contact Microsoft. Microsoft directed me to Dell. Dell goes as far to explain how to install, not how to deal w ith the repercussions.
Any ideas from anyone how to get the email info back in Outlook Express?

I, too, lost all of Outlook Express for my account, but not for my wife's account.
How do I search for *.wab and/or *.dbx?
Thanks.
