There's not much I can offer as far as help, but I can tell you that on my I5150 with XP Prof, I downloaded SP2 after having the computer for over a year and it messed EVERYTHING up. I couldn't connect to the internet, I couldn't open the control panel(explorer would crash), etc. Recently I did a clean install of XP, and first thing I did was install SP2, and no problems at all.
There have been lots of posts on this subject - the perceived wisdom is that you need to be absolutely sure that your system is clear of viruses and spyware before updating to SP2. It's also sensible to delete all temporary files and defrag your hard drive. Then, disconnect all non-essential peripherals before upgrading to ensure a smooth passage.
I've followed this advice for many upgrades and had only very minor glitches on a couple of occasions, fixed in minutes. It needs to be emphasised that the vast majority of SP2 upgrades have been trouble-free, leading to a more secure, improved and stable system.
Just wanted to say, the problem is now fixed, and SP2 is installed and works with no problems at all. Although, I want to thank you two, for you´re help and interest. Thanks! :-)
Well, i did a couple of things different from the other times. But the main isssue, I think was that I for once actually read the instructions, and turn all background applications off (including my antivirus application).
I think that was the problem last time. Other thimgs I also did different, was that this time, i got it from microsoft update, instead of windows update, the size of the file was 75MB this time, last time it was 96MB, and this time I downoaded it with broadband (last time I downloaded it with 56.6 dial-up ^^
And that was the only things that were diffrent from last time. :-)
