Speed up downloads?

A friend told me that there's an easy way to speed up your downloads when online.

It seems that Microsoft made some sort of a "deal with the devil" or something and weaves through all the operating systems some sort of files that intentionally slow down download speeds so as to help out the telecom industry. He said the files are called "download link limiters" and they're threaded through all Microsoft operating system software.

He advised that I should go the the DOS prompt and type in "del *.dll".

The download link limiter files will be deleted and my download speeds will increase dramatically.

I've not done this yet because I'm not sure how to get to the DOS prompt.

Will this work?

Before you delete those files, I have a bridge for sale over here in Iraq.

DO NOT DO IT!!!!

The friend is no friend!!!

The files he or she mentioned are actually called dynamic link library files. Deleting them will render your system inoperable.

Many people have a myriad of problems after they unintentionally delete merely one .dll file - never mind deleting them all.

Your friend is, likely, pulling your leg. I cannot stress strongly enough that doing what your friend suggested will ruin your system. You will have to reload the entire O/S and, likely, will lose all your files.

Is there a reason why no one took the bait on this question and explained to Trevor exactly how to get to a DOS prompt and delete all his DLL files?

Not sure if this is the thread I'm thinking about, but I've been trying to find a particular reply where somebody connected about four or five words together, and spelled backwards it was the exact same words and spelling; fromtwards or bckwards.  Does anyone remember where that reply was ???  Or is it time for me to see the local headshrinker ????:smileysurprised:

I hate it when you get something trivial on your mind but it bugs you when you can't find what you're looking for, lol....

Can anyone help me keep my sanity ???:smileyvery-happy:

Post #6 here (palindrome is the word you're looking for)

Trevor was kind of fun, though I sat out the rest of the game after falling for his first post.  Fool me once, etc.

I had the word "sausage" stuck in my mind...  I was part right anyways. Maybe I should have tried a search for "sausage" ????:smileyvery-happy:

Thanks for that link... I want to send it to my nephew; that's why it bugged me so much, lol..
