Spooler service stopping

Situation :

Optiplex GX280, fresh install of Windows XP, all windows updates done, spooler service will not stay started. Have tried all sorts to remedy this including upgrading the BIOS, replacing the memory, deleting and reinstalling the printer drivers, basically everything except replacing the motherboard. I have put the net start spooler in a batch file and had the spooler services call this file when it failed but it was failing so often the user couldn't get any work done because of the DOS window springing up every 5 seconds.

ANY IDEAS!!!!!!

I am also having this issue.  I thought it was a hardware issue but Lexmark says it is a software issue.  I have other printers that I have installed and work just fine.  But when i try to use the Lexmark Z816 the spooler service stops, and won't let you delete the print job.  I have uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it and still the same problem.  The printer is able to do a self test so I don't think it is the printer.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for the ideas guys.

Unfortunately I have never had the LexBce service and never had a Lexmark printer attached to this machine but I have tried the other suggestions without success.

Anything else I could try???

Does this system have a chipset driver that was supposed to be reinstalled after you reloaded XP?
