Start up items that are absolutely necessary

Question

I have an inspiron e1505 and I'm trying to streamline my startup. Could anyone tell me which programs are absolutely necessary for startup. I want to get it so that no programs are open unless I specifically open them (with the exception of internet connections and other necessities)
